Katy Stafford studied Music Education at Baylor University and is an experienced teacher and artist.  She has both taught and directed children, teens, and adults in a range of styles and settings from sacred choral music to Broadway musicals in a 1700 seat outdoor theater.  In addition to teaching and directing, Katy has sung classically since the age of 11.  Katy is also a musical theatre artist with over 20 years experience on the stage.  She has performed in Houston and San Antonio in musicals too numerous to count.  Favorite Leading and Supporting roles include Dolly Levi (Hello, Dolly!), Marta (Company), Kitty (The Drowsy Chaperone), Hattie (Let's Misbehave), Judy/Ginger (Ruthless! The Musical), Babe (The Pajama Game), Anna (The King and I), Ugly Stepsister - Portia (Cinderella), and Mrs. Mayor (Seussical, The Musical).

In addition to her work in the music world, Katy is a Registered Nurse (BSN-RN) with 17 years experience in the operating room.  Several of those years were spent solely in ENT surgery, where she honed her knowledge of voice, voice anatomy, and voice disorders.  The method of singing (MIX) taught in Katy's studio is particularly designed to be safe and healthy for the voice, and she is quick to identify and correct technique for singers with voice strain.  She is also trained in voice rehabilitation, and works with students recovering from voice disorders.

Katy is a Certified Teacher by International Teachers of Voice, and currently serves as regional coordinator for Texas and the midwest. Membership in this organization requires intensive training and continuing education, as well as an annual international conference.
